                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 2, 2011      TO: Honorable Richard Pena Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB264 by Zaffirini (Relating to certain information provided by local workforce development boards regarding certain child-care providers.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 2308, Government Code, relating to the Workforce Investment Act, by adding Section 2308.3171. The bill would require each local workforce development board to provide information on quality child-care indicators for each licensed or registered child-care provider in the area. The Act would take effect September 1, 2011, and each local workforce development board shall implement the bill by January 1, 2012. The Texas Workforce Commission and the Department of Family and Protective Services indicate they could implement the provisions of the bill within existing resources. Local Government Impact The bill would require each local workforce development board to provide information on quality child-care indicators for each licensed or registered child-care provider in the area. Each board is required to determine the manner in which to provide such information. No significant local government impact to local workforce development boards is anticipated.
