                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 18, 2011      TO: Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB295 by Watson (Relating to the definition of emergency services personnel for purposes of the enhanced penalty prescribed for an assault committed against a person providing emergency services.), Committee Report 2nd House, As Amended    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Penal Code to include emergency room personnel, as defined by the bill, for purposes of enhancing the punishment prescribed for the offense of assault committed by certain persons. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011. For this analysis it is assumed implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies or on the demand for resources of those agencies.
