The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code relating to juror questions and juror note-taking during civil trials. It would require the Supreme Court to promulgate rules that would permit jurors in civil trials to take notes regarding the evidence during trial and to submit to the trial court written questions directed to a witness or to the trial court. The bill also lists provisions that must be included in the rules promulgated by the Supreme Court. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
