The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 13, relating to the proper venue for certain criminal prosecutions of mortgage fraud. The bill establishes the venue for criminal prosecutions of mortgage fraud cases, however the bill will not increase or decrease the total number of mortgage fraud cases. Accordingly, no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
