AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT Current law designates only the southern portion of soon-to-be-built State Highway 121 as the Chisholm Trail Parkway. To provide consistency, encourage economic development, and facilitate tourism marketing, S.B. 534 designates State Highway 121 from Interstate Highway 30 to United States Highway 67 as the Chisholm Trail Parkway As proposed, S.B. 534 amends current law relating to the designation of State Highway 121 in Tarrant and Johnson Counties as the Chisholm Trail Parkway. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 225.058(a), Transportation Code, to provide that State Highway 121 between Interstate Highway 30, rather than Farm-to-Market Road 1187, in Tarrant County and United States Highway 67 in Johnson County is designated as the Chisholm Trail Parkway. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2011.
