LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 8, 2011 TO: Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB58 by Zaffirini (Relating to the designation of segments of State Highway 359, State Highway 16, and State Highway 285 as the Veterans of the Korean War Memorial Highway.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect highway markers designating portions of State Highways 359, 16, and 285 as the Veterans of the Korean War Memorial Highway, subject to Section 225.021 (c), Transportation Code. Section 225.021 (c), Transportation Code, specifies that TxDOT is not required to design, construct, or erect the marker unless a grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the cost. Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any duties associated with the implementation of the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
