                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            February 17, 2011      TO: Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB64 by Zaffirini (Relating to the right of an employee who is a victim of a crime to time off from work to attend court proceedings related to that crime.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill amends the Labor Code relating to the right of employees who are victims of crime or who is the parent or guardian of a crime victim to take time off from work without a reduction in pay or use of existing leave to attend court proceedings related to the crime.  The Texas Workforce Commission indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agencys existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
