The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the continuation and functions of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. The Department of Housing and Community Affairs is subject to the Sunset Act and would be abolished on September 1, 2011 unless continued by the Legislature. The bill would continue the agency for 12 years. Based on the analysis of the Sunset Advisory Commission, Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Texas Department of Rural Affairs, Department of Public Safety, State Office of Administrative Hearings and Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
