                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 7, 2011      TO: Honorable Chris Harris, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB785 by Harris (Relating to the termination of the parent-child relationship and the duty to pay child support in circumstances involving mistaken paternity.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Family Code and allow the termination of a child support order based on the results of genetic testing that excludes the obligor as the childs genetic father. The bill would result in revision of policies and procedures within the child support program at the Office of the Attorney General. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
