                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 7, 2011      TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB993 by Uresti (Relating to certain arrangements to provide care for a child during an investigation of abuse or neglect.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services to follow certain policies when placing a child in temporary out-of-home care during an investigation of abuse or neglect. The agency indicates the bill very closely mirrors current child protective services policy. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011. It is assumed any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
