                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 16, 2011      TO: Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB997 by Shapiro (Relating to the public inspection of an application for a ballot to be voted early by mail.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would make a copy of an application for a ballot to be voted by mail not available for public inspection until the first business day after election, except to the voter seeking to verify that the information pertaining to the voter is accurate. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would be effective September 1, 2011.
