SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1128 In Memory of Joel A. Ramirez WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Private First Class Joel A. Ramirez, who died in the line of duty April 16, 2011, at the age of 22, while serving his country in Afghanistan; and WHEREAS, Private First Class Ramirez enlisted in the United States Army in order to serve his nation and to support its ideals and principles; he was a member of the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum when he gave his last full measure of devotion to his country; and WHEREAS, The courageous men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have fought in wars and peacekeeping missions have set a lasting standard for others; their selfless devotion and strength have left an indelible mark on the world; and WHEREAS, A young man of courage, strength, and conviction, Private First Class Ramirez gave unselfishly to others, and his patriotism, his devotion to duty, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Joel A. Ramirez; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joel A. Ramirez.
