SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1209 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Guadalupe Regional Middle School on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, which is being celebrated in August of 2012; and WHEREAS, Guadalupe Regional Middle School provides a tuition-free, quality Catholic education to boys and girls whose families desire, but cannot afford, a Catholic education; it seeks to instill in its students the values of love, justice, self-discipline, and respect for others so that they may become leaders in their communities and their churches; and WHEREAS, This challenging school is sponsored by three orders, the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, the Marist Brothers of the Schools, and the Congregation of Christian Brothers; it is part of the NativityMiguel Network of Schools and is the only tuition-free Catholic middle school in Texas; and WHEREAS, The core of the school's philosophy is expressed in its rigorous, comprehensive curriculum in the arts and sciences with an emphasis on such fundamental academic skills as the written and oral expression of ideas, problem solving, critical thought, and the competent use of technology; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to the principle of breaking the cycle of poverty through education, this exceptional school has scores of graduates who are thriving in elite high schools and colleges across the country; it is truly deserving of recognition for its record of success; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of Guadalupe Regional Middle School on their commitment to excellence and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 10th anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
