SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1233 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize John "Jason" Bonds on the auspicious occasion of his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point on May 21, 2011; and WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented and accomplished student, Jason was appointed by Congresswoman Kay Granger to the Academy at West Point for the Class of 2011; Jason graduated with a major in human geography and environmental engineering; and WHEREAS, Jason's summer assignments outside of the classroom included a research and writing assignment in Russia and Poland, work with a transportation unit in South Korea, and a cultural immersion visit to Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany; last summer, he was assigned to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts; and WHEREAS, Upon his graduation, Jason was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army; his military branch is field artillery, and he will go to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for officer training and then to his assignment at Fort Stewart, Georgia; he has been accepted into a postgraduate program that will allow him to pursue a postgraduate degree as part of his army career; and WHEREAS, Jason has faced the many challenges of a West Point education with distinction and success, and he is well prepared for a future with countless opportunities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend John "Jason" Bonds on his superior accomplishments and extend to him congratulations on his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
