SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 125 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, which is being celebrated March 26, 2011, at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center in Kingsville; and WHEREAS, Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates traces its beginning to the efforts of Kleberg County Court Judge Martin Chiuminatto, Jr., following the tragic death of a 12-year-old boy; the organization was officially formed on March 12, 2001, as Court Appointed Special Advocates of Kleberg County, with the goal of protecting abused and neglected children; and WHEREAS, The organization soon expanded its services to include Jim Wells, Brooks, Duval, and Kenedy Counties and assumed its current name of Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates in March of 2005; and WHEREAS, Volunteers from the organization have served more than 130 children over the last year; the organization is working to increase its volunteers in order to ensure that even more children receive the help they need to secure a stable, loving home; and WHEREAS, Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates is truly deserving of recognition for 10 years of compassionate service to the most vulnerable members of our society; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates on its compassionate efforts on behalf of abused and neglected children and extend to its staff and volunteers best wishes for a memorable 10th anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
