SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 238
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Sherry Lynn Stout, who was named the recipient of the
2010 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for outstanding
elementary school principal; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Lynn Stout is principal of A. X. Benavides
Elementary School in Brownsville, which has received an
exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency; and
WHEREAS, The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program
is the largest monetary recognition program for educators in the
state and one of the largest in the nation; as outstanding
elementary school principal, Sherry Lynn Stout is receiving a
$10,000 prize, and her school is receiving a $25,000 prize; this
year's program distributed a total of $380,000 to deserving
educators and schools from across the state; and
WHEREAS, Committed to the success and well-being of her
students, Sherry Lynn Stout is often seen greeting students by
name as they arrive at school in the morning and helping them into
their family's cars at the end of the day, all the while quizzing
them on their studies; she is also active in numerous community
activities, including Little League baseball, the Brownsville
Rehabilitation Center, and the United Way; and
WHEREAS, She works hard every day to instill in her
students a lifelong love of learning and to create an atmosphere
in which they can acquire the skills they need to thrive in our
ever-changing world; she is truly deserving of recognition for
her many talents and achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Sherry Lynn Stout on her dedication
to her students and extend congratulations to her on being named
the recipient of an H-E-B Excellence in Education Award; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
