SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 269
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dreams Fulfilled Through Music and to welcome members
of the Alamo Angels Accordion Orchestra in honor of their
upcoming seventh annual performance in the Rotunda of the State
Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music is registered as a
nonprofit charitable organization and is dedicated to bringing
the joy of making music to all persons with special needs; and
WHEREAS, The Alamo Angels Accordion Orchestra is
recognized as the only performing organization in the world
comprised of musicians with special needs and their senior
citizen mentors; and
WHEREAS, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music has been
recognized as the Volunteer Organization of the Year for 2010 by
San Antonio Independent Living Services; and
WHEREAS, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music provides
entertainment in the Rotunda of the State Capitol each year in
April to honor Texas and American composers and to celebrate
Autism Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music partners each year
with VSA Arts of Texas to provide a Very Special Art Exhibit in
the Rotunda by young Texas artists with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music encourages
personal accomplishment and social growth by providing adaptive
music education, music therapy, and performance opportunities
throughout the year for all student musicians with special needs;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby recognize Dreams Fulfilled Through Music and
the Alamo Angels Accordion Orchestra as ambassadors of goodwill
and encourage all Texans to appreciate the special talents of
these outstanding musicians and wish them well as they celebrate
World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, 2011, with a concert in the
State Capitol Rotunda; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of Dreams Fulfilled Through Music and the Alamo Angels
Accordion Orchestra.
