SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 460 In Memory of Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Jr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of the Rio Grande Valley in mourning the loss of Cresencio V. "Queche" Hinojosa, Jr., who died February 12, 2011, at the age of 86; and WHEREAS, Cresencio Hinojosa was an exemplary citizen who was widely admired in his community for his many achievements; born September 23, 1924, to Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Sr., and Natalia P. Hinojosa, Mr. Hinojosa served the nation with distinction during World War II as a member of the United States Merchant Marine; and WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he was an avid sports fan, from his days as a young man playing pool to his longtime enjoyment of professional football and major league baseball; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave generously to others, and his wisdom and enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who shared in his life; and WHEREAS, He was devoted to his large and loving extended family, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Jr.: his sisters, Tencha H. Sloss, Elena Vergott, and Dolores Witte; his brothers, Richard, Daniel, Amador, and Raul Hinojosa; and numerous nieces and nephews; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cresencio V.
