SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 473
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Houston Chapter of the Huston-Tillotson University
International Alumni Association on the occasion of this year's
concert by the university's concert choir; and
WHEREAS, The alumni association's Houston Chapter annually
sponsors the concert, which takes place this year on April 10 at
the historic Trinity United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Huston-Tillotson University in Austin was formed
by the merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College in
1952; a coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, it
operates under the auspices of the American Missionary
Association of the United Church of Christ and the Board of
Education of The United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, The Houston Chapter of the Huston-Tillotson
University International Alumni Association remains an active
supporter of the university, and each of the annual concerts it
sponsors is a remarkable musical experience; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the Houston Chapter of the
Huston-Tillotson University International Alumni Association
for hosting the annual choir concert and extend best wishes to
all who are participating in this year's event; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
