                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 509
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Edison Mission Energy on the occasion of the dedication
 of its Cedro Hill Wind Project in Bruni, Texas, on March 15, 2011;
 and
 WHEREAS, Edison Mission Energy has been active in wind
 energy since 1998, and it is now among the largest developer
 owners in the United States wind sector with some 29 wind
 projects in 10 states; its Cedro Hill Wind Project will provide
 clean, renewable energy for Texans in the San Antonio area; and
 WHEREAS, Cedro Hill is a 150-megawatt wind energy project
 completed late last year; located in Webb County approximately 45
 miles northeast of Laredo, the Cedro Hill project will have a
 positive economic impact on the region through job creation,
 local procurement, land lease payments, property taxes, and
 other benefits; and
 WHEREAS, The Cedro Hill Wind Project has established the
 Webb Consolidated Independent School District Higher Education
 Fund to benefit local schoolchildren, and it anticipates
 supporting other educational and community programs through
 donations, site tours, and other activities; and
 WHEREAS, Wind energy is a growing source of renewable
 energy; the Cedro Hill Wind Project will harness the abundant
 power of wind and contribute greatly to providing vital electrical
 power for the citizens of this state; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Edison Mission Energy for investing
 in wind power in this state and extend best wishes for a memorable
 dedication of the Cedro Hill Wind Project; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the company as a memento of this auspicious occasion.
