                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 514
 In Memory
 of
 Hector Yznaga
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Hector Yznaga,
 who died November 4, 2010, at the age of 85; and
 WHEREAS, Hector Yznaga was born July 19, 1925, in San
 Antonio to Manuel Aniceto and Aurora Rios Yznaga; he served the
 nation with honor in the United States Navy during World War II,
 taking part in the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach and later serving
 in the Pacific theater until the end of the war; and
 WHEREAS, Following his military service, Mr. Yznaga worked
 for Pan American Airways and enrolled at Texas Southmost College;
 he later transferred to The University of Texas, where he earned
 a bachelor's degree and a law degree; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Yznaga practiced law in Brownsville for more
 than 50 years; active in community affairs, he was twice elected to
 the Brownsville Independent School District board of trustees,
 serving as its president from 1969 through 1971; he served as
 president of Cameron County Bar Association and was appointed by
 Governor John Connally to the Texas Civil Judicial Council; and
 WHEREAS, He and his wife Amelia were known for their
 generosity and hospitality; Mr. Yznaga was a cofounder of the
 Apostle Club, a social organization that hosted supper functions
 for which an invitation was highly prized; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and boundless energy,
 he gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
 counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
 forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family and friends of Hector Yznaga; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Hector Yznaga.
