SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 664 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers on the occasion of the organization's 12th Annual Hound Dog Hustle, which is taking place in April of 2011; and WHEREAS, Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers was founded in 1997 and has since grown to become a diverse group of more than 500 people from all walks of life and with a wide range of levels of ability and fitness; members meet each weekend to take advantage of the scenic trails surrounding Lake Grapevine; and WHEREAS, In addition to its running and walking activities, the club also supports cycling and kayaking groups and triathlete training; it also sponsors the Bold in the Cold race in January and the Double Trouble race each fall; and WHEREAS, This outstanding organization is active in numerous community and civic affairs and has donated tens of thousands of dollars to various nonprofit groups, including the Texas Special Olympics and Camp I-Thonka-Chi, a pediatric burn camp; its members also turn out in exceptional numbers for park and lake cleanups; and WHEREAS, The members of Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers represent the best in community involvement, and they are truly deserving of recognition for their many contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the members of Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers and extend to all best wishes for a successful and memorable 12th Annual Hound Dog Hustle; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
