                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 673
 In Memory
 of
 Anthony Johnson
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Leander City Manager Anthony Johnson,
 who died March 24, 2011, at the age of 49; and
 WHEREAS, Anthony "Biff" Johnson worked for nearly 30 years
 in municipal government, and this devoted public servant left an
 indelible mark on the communities he served; and
 WHEREAS, He began his career as a waterline repairman in
 Richardson in 1978; he learned quickly and adjusted easily to the
 public environment, and after earning his business
 administration degree from the University of North Texas, he
 moved quickly through the ranks of city government; and
 WHEREAS, After an 18-year career in Richardson, he became
 the Lancaster public works director; over the following five
 years, he was promoted to assistant city manager and then city
 manager; he accepted a position with the North Texas community of
 Wylie, where he remained until 2004, when he became the city
 manager of Leander; and
 WHEREAS, Biff's strong interpersonal skills and his
 ability to communicate with various individuals and groups
 enabled him to work extremely well with the Leander City Council
 members and staff to accomplish their goals; he forged successful
 relationships with community, civic, and business leaders that
 allowed the city to excel; and
 WHEREAS, Biff Johnson was well known for his determination
 and his willingness to share his wisdom with others; he was
 admired and respected by his colleagues and all who were
 privileged to know him, and he will be deeply missed; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and son, and he
 leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
 family and his many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Anthony "Biff" Johnson; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Anthony Johnson.
