SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 861
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dohn LaBiche, who has been named the recipient of the
2011 Dr. Robert A. Swerdlow Small Business Person of the Year
Award in the Retail-Service Category; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LaBiche was selected for the award by the
Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce; the award is given to an
individual who is innovative and active in the community and who
maintains a profitable and thriving business; and
WHEREAS, Dohn LaBiche formed the LaBiche Architectural
Group in 2000 as a continuation of an architectural practice
founded in Beaumont by Frederick Steinman in 1901; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LaBiche's firm has provided numerous
architectural services related to the recovery efforts following
Hurricanes Ike and Rita; in addition, over the last 11 years, the
firm has handled such notable projects as the renovation of the
Julie Rogers Theater for the Performing Arts and the construction
of the Lamar Institute of Technology Multipurpose Building; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LaBiche was recently honored with induction
into the Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects; he
and his team have contributed to the economic success and the
well-being of the Southeast Texas region through their
commitment to excellence, their high professional standards, and
their loyal work on behalf of the area's communities; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Dohn LaBiche on the first-rate work
of the LaBiche Architectural Group and extend congratulations to
him on earning the 2011 Dr. Robert A. Swerdlow Small Business
Person of the Year Award in the Retail-Service Category; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
