SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 868 In Memory of Erma Kate Johnson WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Oakland, California, in mourning the loss of Erma Kate Johnson, who died March 30, 2011, at the age of 80; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born on June 2, 1930, to Lizzie and Frank Evans; and WHEREAS, Erma Johnson was a resident of Oakland for 43 years and was a longtime employee of Kaiser Hospital; she enjoyed planning and hosting parties and was an active member of Brookins African Methodist Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, She moved to San Jose shortly before her death, and she is survived by her son and his wife, Christopher and Barbara, and by numerous nieces and nephews; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Erma Johnson was respected in the community for her accomplishments; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom and warmth will not be forgotten by those who knew her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Erma Johnson; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Erma Kate Johnson.
