SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 877 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Laredo Specialty Hospital on the occasion of its fifth anniversary; and WHEREAS, Laredo Specialty Hospital opened in May of 2006; the 60-bed, long-term acute care hospital is owned and operated by Ernest Health, Incorporated; it includes a six-bed intensive care unit, a therapy gym, day rooms, and state-of-the-art equipment; and WHEREAS, It provides specialized medical, nursing, and rehabilitative services for patients who need more intensive medical care for their recovery but no longer require the services provided in a traditional acute care hospital; and WHEREAS, The hospital's highly trained caregivers know that recovery from a serious illness or injury requires not only physical care but also emotional support and understanding for both the patient and the patient's family; and WHEREAS, Laredo Specialty Hospital has cared for 2,076 patients over the last five years, and it has maintained a high level of patient satisfaction; it has also become a community leader for health care education and has hosted numerous continuing education programs for health care workers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the administrators and staff members of Laredo Specialty Hospital for their commitment to the delivery of high-quality acute health care services in Laredo and extend to all best wishes for a wonderful fifth anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Laredo Specialty Hospital as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
