H.R. No. 168 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Carlton and Margaret Robinson of San Antonio are celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on June 26, 2011; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson were joined in matrimony on that special day in 1946; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes three children, Carlyn June Dubar, Marsha Littlefield, and Carlton Robinson, Jr., as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Retired from a 38-year career with Southwestern Bell, Mr. Robinson has also enjoyed farming and ranching as well as a variety of construction and restoration projects; Mrs. Robinson retired as principal of P. F. Stewart Elementary after more than three decades of employment with the San Antonio Independent School District; inducted into the Teachers Hall of Fame, she has served her professional community through her work with a number of education boards and organizations; in addition to meeting their career and family responsibilities, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are lifetime members of the NAACP and active in many ministries of Second Baptist Church; currently serving the congregation as deacon, Mr. Robinson also belongs to the American Legion; Mrs. Robinson has further contributed to her community as co-chair of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March and as a member of the advisory board of the United Negro College Fund; and WHEREAS, This inspiring couple have enjoyed six and a half decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Carlton and Margaret Robinson on their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Robinson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
