 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Danbury High School Lady Panthers softball team
 captured the University Interscholastic League 2A state
 championship with a victory in the title game on June 4, 2011, in
 Austin; and
 WHEREAS, In the course of this memorable season, the Lady
 Panthers came to epitomize teamwork, dedication, and skill, as they
 finished with an outstanding record of 39 wins and just 3 losses and
 sailed through the playoffs, scoring a total of 74 runs while
 holding their opponents to just 13; and
 WHEREAS, Earning special recognition for their performance
 in the state tournament were seniors Britiany Bailey, Macy Peltier,
 Kristin Yaeger, Shelby Scott, and Ashley Noak, all of whom were
 named to the All-Tournament Team; in addition, sophomore Kaylee
 Garner was another All-Tournament honoree, and she received the
 championship game's Most Valuable Player award after throwing 15
 strikeouts in the title-winning victory over Central Heights High
 of Nacogdoches; and
 WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Lady Panthers
 also received valuable contributions throughout the year from the
 other members of the roster: Lillie Box, Cassidy Munson, Abbie Box,
 Megan Bang, Kelsey Sellers, Meagan Harvey, Taylor Vrazel, Monica
 Brown, and Lana Townsend; and
 WHEREAS, These determined athletes were guided by head coach
 Melissa Hansen and assistant coach Tim Ender, and they also
 benefited from the support of managers Makenna Peltier, Bela
 Elizondo, Katie Staff, Kaitlin Dorsett, and Kara Williams, athletic
 trainer Gregg Bautsch, and athletic director Jimmy Thomas; and
 WHEREAS, To attain the season-long goal of becoming state
 champions, each of the Danbury players was called on to perform at
 the top of her game, and the team's success is the culmination of
 countless hours of hard work; the 2011 state softball title is the
 second for Danbury High as well as for Coach Hansen, who led the
 team to the championship in 2004; and
 WHEREAS, The Lady Panthers have distinguished themselves as
 the finest 2A softball team in the Lone Star State, and in so doing,
 they have brought recognition to their school and become a source of
 pride for their classmates and for residents of Danbury and
 Brazoria County; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Danbury
 High School Lady Panthers softball team on winning the UIL 2A state
 championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff
 sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
