 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Glenda Lyzette Avila-Salazar of Dallas has
 distinguished herself through her devotion to her family and the
 greater good; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Carrizo Springs, Ms. Avila-Salazar
 graduated from Crystal City High School in 1988 and subsequently
 completed training at the San Antonio College of Medical and Dental
 Assistants; she settled in Dallas in 1990 and soon became involved
 in the Democratic Party and in the Mexican American Democrats
 organization; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Avila-Salazar has served as a local precinct
 chair for nearly two decades, and she has also contributed to the
 voting process as an election judge for county, state, and national
 elections; she has extensive experience as a precinct, county, and
 state delegate, and she was selected as a delegate to the Democratic
 National Convention in both 1996 and 2004; and
 WHEREAS, This dynamic woman shares a passion for politics
 with her husband, Dallas City Council member Steve Salazar, to whom
 she has lent vital support throughout his public service career;
 the couple have two children, Esteban and Estrella, and Ms.
 Avila-Salazar is deeply engaged in both of their lives, serving as a
 Girl Scout parent volunteer and as a basketball and softball coach
 at St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School; and
 WHEREAS, Known for her joyful nature and generosity of
 spirit, Ms. Avila-Salazar is a proud cancer survivor whose strength
 and courage during her battle for recovery inspired countless
 people; and
 WHEREAS, Glenda Avila-Salazar has earned the respect and
 admiration of all who are fortunate enough to know her, and it is
 indeed a pleasure to recognize this outstanding Texan; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Glenda Lyzette
 Avila-Salazar for her accomplishments and extend to her sincere
 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Avila-Salazar as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
