 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant
 Nicholas Price Bellard of El Paso suffered an immeasurable loss
 with the death of this valiant soldier on June 13, 2011, at the age
 of 26; and
 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment,
 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Staff Sergeant
 Bellard was killed while bravely serving his second tour of duty in
 Iraq; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Crowley, Louisiana, Nicholas Bellard
 moved to El Paso at the age of 13; after graduating from high
 school, he joined the army in 2003, and his skill and dedication to
 duty earned him many honors, including two Army Commendation
 Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals,
 and the National Defense Service Medal; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bellard was devoted to his family,
 including his beloved wife, Veronica, and their two-year-old
 daughter, Eva; and
 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
 forces, Nicholas Bellard inspired others with his leadership and
 service, and those who were fortunate enough to know him will
 forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Nicholas Price Bellard and extend deepest
 sympathy to his wife, Veronica, to his daughter, Eva, and to his
 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
 Staff Sergeant Nicholas Price Bellard.
