H.R. No. 257 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sally Jaime has been named the 2011 Firefighter of the Year by the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department, and her selection for this honor qualifies her as a nominee for the Rio Grande Valley Firefighter of the Year award; and WHEREAS, A native of Edinburg, Ms. Jaime received her firefighter training at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, and she joined the Edinburg VFD nine years ago as a volunteer; and WHEREAS, Ms. Jaime is now one of the department's six professional firefighters, helping to respond to more than 2,000 incidents a year; in addition, she has generously contributed her time to the Edinburg VFD's Explorer Post No. 2002, which serves to introduce young people to careers in fire and emergency services; and WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Jaime enjoys the love and support of her husband and six-year-old daughter; and WHEREAS, Sally Jaime has earned the respect and admiration of her peers for her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service, and she may indeed take pride in the important part she plays in ensuring the safety and welfare of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Sally Jaime on being named the 2011 Firefighter of the Year by the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Jaime as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
