 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Matthew Simpson is graduating as the valedictorian
 of the senior class of Hargrave High School in Huffman on June 3,
 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Mr.
 Simpson demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
 subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours he has devoted to
 his studies are myriad; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Simpson has distinguished himself as a member of
 the National Honor Society and the Hargrave Falcons football team,
 and he has participated in several University Interscholastic
 League competitions, taking first place in ready writing, second
 place in science, and third place in mathematics; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being
 recognized as the highest achieving student in his class, Mr.
 Simpson has gained the opportunity to address his fellow seniors at
 commencement and to reflect on their shared history as well as their
 hopes and ambitions for the future; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Timothy and Lorie Simpson, he plans to
 attend Texas A&M University and pursue a degree in petroleum
 engineering; and
 WHEREAS, Matthew Simpson has earned the respect and
 admiration of his teachers and classmates at Hargrave High School,
 and his exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment
 to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for
 this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Simpson on being named
 valedictorian of the Hargrave High School Class of 2011 and extend
 to him sincere best wishes for continued success as he begins the
 next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Simpson as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
