 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Thomas
 G. Ratcliffe of Kerrville, who passed away on May 25, 2011, at the
 age of 79; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Tom Ratcliffe was born on
 October 16, 1931, and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana; he
 graduated from Texas A&M University before serving in the U.S.
 Army, rising to the rank of captain; he went on to have a notable
 career that included employment with Tenneco and L. D. Brinkman;
 and
 WHEREAS, In 1979, Mr. Ratcliffe settled in the Hill Country;
 he enjoyed spending time on his land in Ingram, whether he was
 mowing, swimming, or fishing with his grandchildren; an active
 member of the Kerrville community, he shared his time with the local
 Performing Arts Society and the First Presbyterian Church, where he
 served his congregation as an elder; in addition, he generously
 supported his alma mater and Schreiner University; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Ratcliffe enjoyed many years of marriage to the
 former Sara Eastwood, and they were blessed with three children,
 Scott, Dianne, and Rusty; after Mrs. Ratcliffe's death, he was
 fortunate enough to find love a second time, and in 2010 he married
 Barbara Joplin; and
 WHEREAS, Tom Ratcliffe led a life that was made rich through
 meaningful service and accomplishments, and he leaves behind a
 legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of Thomas G. Ratcliffe and extend deepest sympathy to the members of
 his family: to his wife, Barbara Joplin Ratcliffe; to his children,
 Scott Ratcliffe and his wife, Lori, Dianne Ratcliffe Brickner and
 her husband, Joe, and Rusty Ratcliffe and his wife, Carol; to his
 grandchildren, Noah, Lindsey, Rachel, and Jack Ratcliffe and Sara
 and Jacob Brickner; to his brother, John Ratcliffe, and his wife,
 Peggy; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thomas G.
 Ratcliffe.
