 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Through hard work and an enduring commitment to
 excel on the diamond, the Forney High School softball team
 completed a remarkable season in 2011, advancing all the way to the
 University Interscholastic League 4A title game; and
 WHEREAS, The Forney High players got off to a fast start,
 posting a record of 13 wins and 4 losses in tournament play and
 defeating a number of teams with state and national rankings; they
 continued their strong performance in district competition and
 clinched the 15-4A title on April 22; highlights of the regular
 season included a month-long, 11-game winning streak and a
 no-hitter thrown by Macie Tillery on April 1; and
 WHEREAS, During the 4A playoffs, the Lady Jackrabbits put
 together a string of impressive victories, including triumphs over
 the highly regarded teams from Royse City and Frisco Wakeland High
 Schools; Forney's high-powered offense was a key to its success all
 year long, and that was particularly true in the regional finals,
 when the lineup combined for 18 runs in two games against Frisco
 Centennial to secure a place in the state tournament; there, the
 Lady Rabbits knocked off the squad from Waco Midway with a 9-6 win
 in the semifinals before falling to Santa Fe High School in the
 championship game to finish as state runner-up; and
 WHEREAS, In its thrilling 2011 season, the team benefited
 from valuable contributions from each of its members; in addition
 to Ms. Tillery, the roster includes Allison Brown, Hillary Steed,
 Taylor LeFlore, Laura Mabary, Christina Binford, Brooke McCarroll,
 Rylie Chappell, Ashlin Lovett, Micah Fitzgerald, Taylor Penn, Allie
 Miller, Krista Williams, Natalie Mayhall, Macey Morgan, and Jasmine
 Lusk; and
 WHEREAS, These skilled athletes were guided by head coach
 Eric Montgomery and assistant coaches Autumn Petrino and Steve
 Kirwan, and they also benefited from the work of trainer Heather
 Graham and managers Alex Medina, Victoria Medina, Courtney Homer,
 and Logan Lock; and
 WHEREAS, The accomplishments of the Lady Jackrabbits
 softball players are a source of pride for their school and
 community, and the lessons these young competitors learned about
 teamwork and dedication will continue to benefit them throughout
 their lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Forney
 High School softball team on its outstanding 2011 season and extend
 to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
 continued achievement; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
