                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join the citizens of Crowley on the occasion of the 60th
 anniversary of the city's incorporation, which is being
 celebrated July 9, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, The City of Crowley is commemorating its 60th
 anniversary in conjunction with its annual Celebration of
 Freedom event, which honors the service of the men and women of
 the United States armed forces; and
 WHEREAS, The 2011 Celebration of Freedom will begin with a
 parade, which will be followed by various festivities at
 Bicentennial Park, culminating in a fireworks display; and
 WHEREAS, The City of Crowley traces its roots to pioneer
 farmers who settled near Deer Creek around 1848; the community
 was incorporated in 1951; it was named for S. H. Crowley, who was
 master of transportation for the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe
 Railroad, which played a major role in the development of the
 area in the late 19th century; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of its history, Crowley has been
 an outstanding place in which to live, work, and raise a family,
 and its residents look forward to the future while continuing to
 embrace the city's rich and varied past; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the citizens of
 Crowley on their many contributions to our state and extend to
 them best wishes for a memorable Celebration of Freedom event and
 60th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the city as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
