                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
 In Memory
 of
 Clifford A. Estes
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 of New Braunfels in mourning the loss of Clifford A. Estes, who
 died May 25, 2011, at the age of 72; and
 WHEREAS, Clifford A. Estes was born March 6, 1939, in El Reno,
 Oklahoma; he attended Ranger High School and held a bachelor of
 science degree, having attended Ranger Junior College and The
 University of Texas at Austin; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Estes served the nation with honor and
 distinction in the military for more than 36 years; he was an
 enlisted soldier in the United States Army, and he served as
 assistant adjutant general of the Texas National Guard and as
 inspector general and assistant deputy chief of staff in the
 United States Army Reserve; he achieved the rank of colonel and
 received numerous awards and commendations, including the
 prestigious Legion of Merit; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and generosity, Mr. Estes
 was active in numerous community and charitable organizations,
 including the Comal County Fair Association; he was a 4th degree
 member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a member
 of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and a noble of the Ben Hur
 Shrine Temple; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
 and although he will be deeply missed by his family and many
 friends, he will continue to live in their hearts for years to
 come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 to the bereaved family of Clifford A. Estes:  his wife, Jan Mills
 Estes; his children, Karen E. Mejia and James S. Estes; and his
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Clifford Estes.
