                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Dr. Sharron Miles on the occasion of her installation
 as District Governor of Rotary District 5790, on June 24, 2011;
 and
 WHEREAS, Sharron Miles is a longtime educator and an active
 civic leader in Cleburne and Johnson County; she has served on
 the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations and as president
 of the Johnson County United Way, the Cleburne Chamber of
 Commerce, Zonta International, and the Cleburne Rotary Club; as a
 Rotarian, she has also served as chair of the Lowell Smith
 Scholarship Committee and as district administrator, assistant
 governor, district secretary, and governor-elect; and
 WHEREAS, She holds a doctorate from Baylor University in
 education administration, and she has worked in Texas public
 schools for 39 years as a teacher, special education director,
 principal, central office administrator, and superintendent; she
 currently serves as a campus administrator mentor with the School
 Improvement Resource Center; and
 WHEREAS, She has been supported in all her endeavors by her
 husband, Dan, and her children, Adam and Amy, and she is widely
 recognized for her commitment to service; she was named the 2002
 Woman of the Year by the Cleburne Times Review, and she was
 recognized with the 2007 Community Spirit Award from the Tarrant
 County Red Cross and the 2007 Athena Award and 2008 Wall of Fame
 Award from the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, Her installation as Governor of Rotary District
 5790 is a testament to her dedication to making her community and
 the State of Texas a better place for all; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Sharron
 Miles for her exceptional record of service to others and extend
 to her congratulations on her installation as Rotary District
 Governor; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 Dr. Miles as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
