                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 12, 2013      TO: Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee On Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1077 by Kleinschmidt (Relating to the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition in private vehicles on the campuses of institutions of higher education.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill relates to the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition in private vehicles on the campuses of institutions of higher education.  Under provisions of the bill, an institution of higher education may not adopt or enforce any rule, regulation, or other provision prohibiting or placing restrictions on the storage or transportation of a firearm or ammunition  in a locked, privately owned or leased motor vehicle by a person who lawfully possesses the firearm or ammunition. Any costs associated with implementing provisions of the bill would be done with existing resources.  Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill relates to the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition in private vehicles on the campuses of institutions of higher education.
