LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 9, 2013 TO: Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB1114 by Raney (Relating to restoring the jurisdiction of the constitutional county court in Brazos County.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Currently, Section 26.121 of the Government Code provides that the County Court of Brazos County has the general jurisdiction of a probate court and juvenile jurisdiction as provided by Section 26.042 (b), but has no other civil or criminal jurisdiction. The bill proposes to repeal this section of the Government Code and thereby restore the general jurisdiction to the County Court of Brazos County which applies to county courts unless modified by statute. According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
