                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 13, 2013      TO: Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1174 by Fallon (Relating to the penalties for illegally passing a stopped school bus.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to increase fines related to a misdemeanor offense for illegally passing a stopped school bus. An offense would be punishable by a fine of not less than $500 or more than $1,250, except that a person convicted of a second or subsequent offense within five years would be punishable by a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $2,000.
