LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION March 15, 2013 TO: Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee On Public Education FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB1411 by Wu (Relating to selection of certain statewide competition locations by the University Interscholastic League in a manner that provides equal access for institutions of higher education to students who exhibit academic or musical excellence.), As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the University Interscholastic League, on a biennial basis, to issue statewide requests for proposals from institutions of higher education and other appropriate entities seeking to hold the statewide competitions for two consecutive years. Local Government Impact Based on the analysis of the University Interscholastic League, moving competition sites away from the centrally-located University of Texas campus could increase travel costs for certain ISDs.
