                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 26, 2013      TO: Honorable Linda Harper-Brown, Chair, House Committee on Government Efficiency & Reform      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1487 by Harper-Brown (Relating to the searchable state expenditure database maintained by the comptroller), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 403 of the Government Code to require that the searchable state expenditure database maintained by the Comptroller of Public Accounts allow users to ascertain, for grant expenditures, the specific purposes for which the grant money was used. The bill would exempt from the requirement grant expenditures made by a state agency if the Comptroller determines that the agency provides the information to the public through an electronic link on the agencys website or through another agency program or database. The Comptroller estimates there would be a cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill. It is anticipated that the additional costs could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
