                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 23, 2013      TO: Honorable Ryan Guillen, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1674 by Price (Relating to the continuation and functions of the Texas Commission on the Arts.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the continuation and operation of the Texas Commission on the Arts (Commission). The Commission is subject to the Sunset Act and will be abolished on September 1, 2013, unless continued by the Legislature. The bill would continue the Commission for twelve years and would take effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session or August 26, 2013. The bill would reduce the composition of the Commission from 17 to 9 members to serve staggered six year terms. The bill would also clarify the agencys grant making authority. It is anticipated that implementation of the bill would have a minimal fiscal impact. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
