                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 15, 2013      TO: Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1762 by Price (Relating to workers' compensation and other remedies available to an injured temporary employee.), As Passed 2nd House    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Labor Code relating to workers' compensation and other remedies available to an injured temporary employee.  The bill would require the state or political subdivision of the state to accept as proof of workers' compensation coverage a certificate of insurance coverage showing that a temporary employment service maintains a policy of workers' compensation coverage for the temporary employment service and the client of the temporary employment service. Based on information provided by the Department of Insurance and the Texas Workforce Commission, it is assumed that all duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
