                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 16, 2013      TO: Honorable Craig Estes, Chair, Senate Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs & Homeland Security      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1781 by King, Ken (Relating to a limitation on sanctions imposed on school districts for the sale of foods of minimal nutritional value.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to prohibit the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), given certain conditions as defined by the bill, from imposing a sanction on a school district for the sale of foods of minimal nutritional value at the high school level. According to TDA, historical data reflects these types of sanctions were less than $5,000 per year. Accordingly, no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
