                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 20, 2013      TO: Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1847 by Carter (Relating to continuing legal education in ethics or professional responsibility for prosecutors.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to require prosecuting attorneys to complete one hour of training relating to a duty to disclose certain information in a criminal case within 180 days of assuming duties.  Additional related training thereafter would be based upon rules promulgated by the court of criminal appeals. This analysis anticipates that costs of any training as described  could reasonably be absorbed within existing resources for prosecutor training.  The bill would take effect January 1, 2014.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
