Based on the applicability criteria, the provisions of the bill would apply only to counties with a population of 800,000 or more and municipalities with a population of 500,000 or more. The bill would repeal Section 254.0401 (b) of the Election Code. Effective January 1, 2014, the bill would repeal Section 176.009 (b) of the Local Government Code. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
