                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 18, 2013      TO: Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1971 by Davis, John (Relating to a pilot program conducted by the Department of Aging and Disability Services to authorize certain accreditation surveys of assisted living facililties.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would permit the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to develop and implement a pilot program to authorize the use of an accreditation survey for assisted living facilities. If DADS implements the pilot, the agency would be required to implement the pilot program with the goal that at least one assisted living facility will have used the survey by August 31, 2014. DADS indicates the cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
