The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to nondiscrimination against physicians in payment for telephone consultation services. The bill would allow a physician to charge for a telephone consultation with a covered patient if that employee benefit plan or health insurance policy allows any other person to charge for telephone consultation with covered patients. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance and Texas A&M University System Administration, it is assumed that all duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Based on information provided by the Teacher Retirement System, and UT System Administration, the bill would have no fiscal impact on the agencies. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
