                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 15, 2013      TO: Honorable John Davis, Chair, House Committee On Economic & Small Business Development      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2051 by Villalba (Relating to the authority of public institutions of higher education to make certain investments to support technology commercialization.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill amends the Education Code as it relates to the authority of governing boards of public institutions of higher education to enter in to agreements to make certain investments to support technology commercialization at the institutions by specifying that convertible notes are an acceptable asset a governing board could accept. Provisions of the bill could be implemented with existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
